It is completely natural to feel fear when life changes in unexpected ways. Fear is an irrational reaction and you feel you have lost control.

Confronting fear can be as irrational as the fear itself. Recognizing what causes fear and identifying the ways you express fear is paramount to becoming calm and rational again.

Once in the dead of night, I was awakened from a sound sleep by a loud crash. My heart started pounding; I broke out in a cold sweat and lay there waiting for the next sound. The next sound I heard was a rustling at the window. Now I am in full panic mode, what do I do?

So I fumble around to find the phone to dial 911, too afraid to leave my bedroom. The dispatcher told me to stay put until the police arrived. The police arrived with helicopters and dogs surrounding my home. They walked around then came inside. They walked through the house.

Imagine my embarrassment when they discovered that my shower curtain had fallen down! Fear is a chain reaction that starts in the brain, moves to the heart, then to the muscles.
It doesn’t matter why you’re scared; learn what you can do about it.

What triggered my irrational reaction to my shower curtain falling? I was home alone, there had been burglaries in my neighborhood and it was the middle of the night.

Determine what is triggering your fear. Is it because you have problems making decisions, do you lack motivation, do you feel guilt or confusion? Wouldn’t it be amazing if you learned new ways of being and doing to attract the positive influences you want? Think only about each success; see yourself by changing your fears to opportunities for achievement.
